Another week has gone by and we have sorted a cpl of bikes out,
Although we have searched the country high and wide and fed up of signing into e-bay!! we have found Barrie a great little bike on our doorstep, John Mills a local bike dealer has come up trumps, so finally got to ride the infamous stepthrough tonight and was pleasantly surprised, may have a different view after 2500miles!!
Get to pick up the other bike tomorrow, delivered from a scrap yard in Heathrow, mate Nige has found and picked it up for us, travelled to France whilst in the area for wine spent over twelve hrs in the mouth of the Dover dock in gale force 12!! slept in the car with a wooly hat on his feet, and taken into customs don’t ask what for but no wasn’t for excess wine and tobacco import The plot thickens!
Colwyn of precision bikes has offered his services, be it in parts or work so big thank you to you.
Nick our third team member has been busy this week mapping our route in more detail and looking at possible camp sites for our overnight stops. Plans for our backup vehicle seem to be up in the air at the moment, can’t decide on the cost of using a camper van kindly offered to us by a friend Arwyn who’s son Shaun rides a mean motocross in local competitions, a use of a car which would be cheaper on petrol or the favorite at the moment is to just loading up the bikes and do it without any support vehicle at all.
All in all a pretty busy week, had packs delivered from MND for sponsorship, Crossroads been busy chatting on the phone with Barrie,
Bottom Line there’s no turning back!!
Update

Nothing major to write but we have spent a week looking for suitable bikes, Barry is busy mastering the Web page and is getting to grips with it very well in fairness.
So thought I’d better place a posting.!!
Think we have sorted one bike out, Honda C90 cub with bent forks, found by a mate, but is based in Heathrow, And he is going to collect when he gets a chance, so look forward to seeing this. The Cub promised from the Isle of Man as still not surfaced, but we are not writing this off, and have been searching local bike shops and yards, who have offered a variety of bikes in all sorts of conditions from immaculate(pricey) ones to a couple in boxes( more parts than you could shake a stick at), but I’m sure we will get sorted soon.
Barry is fancing the Yamaha Townmate, and we have been offered one a little rough and one ready to go, think the 4 gears are sounding appealing only 2 less than his ZX9!!!!
WE have recruited a video man!! Nick a good friend and fellow biker is keen to join(another ZX9 freak!!) but haha reduced to a stepthrough tour.
So we are progressing with the arrangements, and have contacted HTV Television who are keen to know more about the whole episode, who knows the more footage the better:-

Tuesday 15th January 2008.
For one week now we have started to organise this trip. In that time we have contacted our chosen charities, planned a route, set up this web blog, located but not seen one Honda C90 and made a general plan of attack of how we can promote and rise as much money as possible.
Yesterday we went Live with this Blog and today we post our first Diary log. Nothing much to say yet just that we are in the early stages of our planning and will post entries as and when things devlope.
Regards

Hi
I’m a 37 year old male living in the quiet village of Mynydd y Garreg, with my wife Anouska and our 17 month old baby Thomas Owain Baxter
My reason for undertaking this journey is to raise money and awareness for the charity Motor Neurone Disease after the sad loss of my mother to this cruel disease at the young age of 52, I have always had an interest in motorbikes and travel and have raced motocross from a very young age, then progressed onto the road bikes and then back to Enduro’s, and thought it would be a challenging yet rewarding way of raising money by circumnavigating the British Coast on Honda C90 stepthrough’s
The idea of using Honda 90’s has come from a couple of mates who have travelled some ridiculous distances on these fantastic bikes, slowly but yes some ridiculous distances and I though that they would be ideal, to make the journey fun yet more difficult whilst generating more interest in the trip. Barrie my work colleague and friend initially wanted to use his 900cc Kawasaki Ninja but Ive finally got him round to my way of thinking ha Ha !!!

Welcome,
My name is Barrie Davies I am a little older than Gary. I am married to Julie and we have a typical teenage daughter Carys. We have recently moved into a new house that we have built in the village of Cynheidre in Llanelli.
A working colleague of Gary’s and a keen motorcyclist for nearly 20 years my nominated charity is crossroads and the reason for this is to thank them for the wonderful care given to my 90 year old grandmother and also to my wonderful caring wife who is the Care Manager for Crossroads at the Llanelli Office.
The choice of transport for this journey I blame totally on Gary who I might add has some strange friends, as my preferred mode of transport would be my Kawasaki ZX9R Ninja. How my old bones will hold up to this challenge I don’t know I will probably need the help of Crossroads myself when or If we get home.
The Task
14/01/2008 by admin.
The purpose of this journey is to raise money as well as awareness To Cross Roads caring for carers and Motor Neurone Disease
The anticipated date for the journey is yet to be finalised but will be some months away, the journey will be upon Honda C90 cub’s and is planned to take 10 maybe 11 days circumnavigating the coast of britain with some strategic stops, We have not to date aquired the scooters required and are therefore open to offers cheap or free to a good cause a pair of Stepthroughs.
Fund raising for the event will take different formats with simple donations via sponser forms, and also a part of the awareness is to promote www.menuking.co.uk a web site that is run by us both, and as part of the fundraising, we will gladly accept any menu’s takeaways, Lunchtime specials, whatever the case may be for inclusion onto our website for a duration of 1 year subject to a donation by the respective food premise.
If you are interested in assisting in the raising of money for these causes , please contact us to arrange accordingly
Thanks
Gary and Barrie
The Planned Route
14/01/2008 by admin.

We have planned this route to enable us to the best of our ability to follow the coast of Britain and to take in Lands End and John O’Groats. It is a distance of some 2500miles we have 10 days to complete this task, that averages out at 250 miles a day. Honda C90’s average 30mph this equates to over 8hrs of riding per day.
